Bear Down Cup (S24)

The UA Badminton Committee is excited to announce UABC’s annual Bear Down Cup!

Dates: Friday, April 26th (6pm-10pm) & Sunday, April 28th (8am-12pm)

Where: South Rec (1400 E 6th St, Tucson, AZ 85719) 

Format: Team-based round-robin format competition

Note: Payment is required BEFORE the event. If you do not pay fees by the deadline, you will be removed from the tournament. Online payments are available for your convenience. If you have any financial concerns, please email us! We would be happy to work something out (uazbadminton@gmail.com).

KEEP IN MIND:

  • We have implemented GENDER CAPS in order to keep logistics manageable (limited entries based on gender)
    • Men: 20 entries
    • Women: No entry cap
  • Tournament Explanation and Timeline: The number of teams and captains for the tournament will be determined based on the number of participant entries. Players will then be categorized by gender, and a drafting meeting will be conducted over Zoom, where captains will choose their team members. The playing schedule and team rosters will be shared a few days before the start of the tournament to allow for strategic planning. During the tournament, each team will be responsible for selecting the events that their team members will play in for each round, depending on the opposing team. The tournament will feature a round-robin style, where each team plays against all other teams, and the team with the most wins per round will receive one point. The team with the most points at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner.
    • Men may play in MS, MD, and XD; women may play in WS, WD, and XD.
    • This is a great way to get to know more people in the club and is open to ALL LEVELS!

  • We are asking for members to sign up to be TEAM CAPTAINS
    • Team captains draft registered participants to be a part of their team, so we advise all those who want to be team captains to know members of UABC relatively well!
    • The UA Badminton Committee has the right to deny anyone their captain status
  • This tournament is a TEAM tournament that goes for 2 DAYS!
    • If you will be gone for ANY of the two days (April 26th or 28th) we are not accepting your application!
