GENERAL INFORMATION
DATE/TIME: Sunday, June 25th @ 10AM-2PM
LOCATION: South Gym, Campus Recreation Center (1400 E 6th St, Tucson, AZ 85721)
FORMAT: Gender-nonspecific, single-elimination, randomized partner, doubles-only
FEE: $10 via Zelle/CashApp to uazbadminton@gmail.com or Cash to officers
FEES MUST BE PAID BEFORE TOURNAMENT DAY!
OPEN TO: UABC club members and community members. There are no age or experience restrictions.
RULES OF THE TOURNAMENT
- Gender of teammates and opposing teams are irrelevant (ex. a men’s doubles team may play a women’s doubles team).
- Rotation of play is an individual team’s choice (ex. a mixed doubles rotation may play against a men’s doubles rotation)
- Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in an automatic forfeit (determined by the committee)
- Games are first to 30 points, no winning by 2.
PARTNER DRAWS
- FIRST-ROUND DRAWS: Partners are chosen using an online name generator that chooses 2 names at random. The bracket is then filled from top to bottom in the order of the names chosen. Matches are outlined through the bracket configuration after the first round is completely filled.
- This session will be one or two days before the tournament over zoom. If you wish to attend the session, please indicate this on the last question of the sign up form. A zoom recording will also be provided.
- Initial partners will be sent out via email after the session is over.
- PROCEEDING ROUND DRAWS: Winners’ names are placed back into the random name generator and are redrawn to play the next round with the pairing and match process the same as the first round. Losers are ELIMINATED.
- The doubles pair who wins the final are the winners of the tournament
